Hey! Listen!

Hey, remember me?

Joystick Diaries has been a little quiet. Life happened and somewhere along the way I stepped away from writing for a while. Sometimes life can deal us all some unfortunate RNG, and we just have to play with what we're dealt. That pretty much sums up the past year for me. I know I'm not alone in that sentiment.

Over the past few weeks I've had several developers reach out to me about their games, and my Discord inbox has been flooded with a constant IV drip of friends sending me Steam store links to quirky little sim games, which was exactly the little encouragement I needed to realize how much I missed writing and discussing games on this platform.

So what’s next?

I will be continuing on with simulation game reviews. I might be adding some off-the-wall other indie games here and there as well. Mainly, as my goal has always been, I want to focus on sharing honest opinions about which games are actually worth your time and money (even if it's just $5).

I also plan to bring back the short-form content that accompanies each review, so you'll be able to find Joystick Diaries across social media channels again.

This isn't some grand relaunch, and I don't want to overload my calendar (or yours) with empty promises. My aim is just to get back to doing the thing that brought me so much joy and peace of mind. If even a single person walks away from this diary feeling like they read something worthwhile, then I consider my mission accomplished.

Want to do some homework?

I've already got a few games lined up for the next round of reviews. If you want to get ahead of the curve, or just have some new simulator games to poke around in, here's what is currently on the drafting table:

  • Bills Must Be Paid

  • Scritchy Scratchy

  • Cat Mail Co.

For the regulars: thanks for sticking around. For the newcomers: welcome to the random chaos that is my diary of games.

Let's get back to the games!

~ Cali
